Transformation time at The Bridge thanks to GR8

GR8 team offer time free of charge to help Brighter Futures.

Brighter Futures receives help from Kenyan volunteers

On Sunday 11th June, a fantastic group of seasonal construction workers from Kenya who are employed by GR8, volunteered to help Brighter Futures prepare an outdoor play area at The Bridge.

It is the latest project for the team who began offering their spare time at weekends earlier this year to support charities, elderly and vulnerable islanders and environmental projects.

The team worked very hard, power washing, clearing branches, cleaning and painting walls and removing leaves and litter from the site.

The next stage of work will involve renovating an area at The Bridge by installing AstroTurf and fencing so that there is a quiet, safe outside area for families to use this summer.

The Jersey Mutual Insurance Society has kindly donated £1,000 to pay for the materials to use for the project to succeed.

Sarah Nibbs, Fundraising, Events and Partnerships Manager at Brighter Futures, said: “We had seen the amazing and kind work that Lee and his team at GR8 had undertaken for other good causes, and he kindly said yes to helping Brighter Futures too. We have wanted to improve the area behind the main hall at The Bridge for a very long time and it will give our client families more outside space to use and enjoy.”

Lee Madden, Managing Director of GR8, added: “Once again, the guys have offered to give up their weekend to help in the community. To me that shows how committed they are to helping other people, even though they are thousands of miles away from home.”

Thank you to the amazing work you did on the day Team GR8!

We could not have accomplished so much without you all.
